Reverse Osmosis is a revolutionary water purification technology. This was developed in the late 1950's as a method of desalinating seawater to produce drinking water. Also known as hyper filtration, reverse osmosis is the process in which molecules of water are forced through a 0.0001 micron semi-permeable membrane through the use of water pressure. This membrane allows only water molecules to pass through, filtering out almost everything else including 90-99% of all contaminants in the water. The level of contaminants removed is dependant upon the type of reverse osmosis membrane used.
Reverse Osmosis water filtration, was once only an industrial water purification system but has now found its way into homes and small businessâs throughout the world. There are many various uses of Reverse Osmosis Water, Pure Domestic Drinking Water, Water for Marine Fishkeepers and Fish Breeders, Horticulturists Growing Exotic Orchids,(& the not so exotic illegal Cannabis cultivation too), Breeders of Canaries, Parrots & Tortoiseâs tend to be the home uses of this RO Water.
Commercial Applications, traditionally used in pharmaceuticals, huge quantities of Reverse Osmosis Water are used in the preparation of soft drinks & food. Most recent innovative of Reverse Osmosis Systems include the preparation of printing inks, laser cutting, and more recently Pole Window Cleaning Systems & Autoclaves in Dental Surgeries.
The method of cleaning windows using purified water has revolutionised window cleaning in the UK & Europe. As a result of Health & Safety legislation the use of ladders in this industry became subject to regulation. As a result extending window cleaning poles with a brush at one end and fed by pressurised pure water became much more popular. Now this system is the choice of more and more window cleaners, as a safe, fast and efficient method of cleaning windows in building up to three storeys.
Dental Surgeries subject to new regulations, have resulted in many dental surgeries installing RO water systems.
